Episode 9 (제9화) is the ninth episode of The Patron of Villains Webtoon series.
Summary
The chapter begins with the five receiving their orders, delivered individually this time. Before anyone opens the new letter, Eutiah insists they reread the previous ones, since his orders require a high level of understanding. Someone asks whether they are even allowed to, since only Eutiah could read them before, but giving each of them an order means he has decided it is time for everyone to see. The letters look like nothing, just daily small talk, and one of them takes the first for ordinary chatter until she is shown what to look for. He disguised the orders as ordinary conversation from the very beginning. The first order came right after the greeting letter: he designates the elimination target, gives the mission, and asks for a report afterward. That was when he entrusted the Blue Moon to them, and he personally chose every one of them. One of them reads it as a way to prevent information leaks, which means the orders must be read precisely and the mission carried out. Someone suggests it would be easier to visit him in person or use a magic communicator, and the answer is that leaks are the problem, which is why he uses letters at all. Eutiah hopes they have not forgotten that all they have to do is follow the order, and the answer comes back that they have not. They open the new letters. One of them does not know the reason but was told to become a knight. Nobody needs to worry because the patronage will continue, and the letters give the location of the gifts, which they will find once they arrive. One rule stands above the rest: unless he says it first, they are never to mention the name of the Blue Moon. Three months later, Allon is buried in books and finds nothing about the change in magic and phrases, so he will have to experiment himself. He asks how the search for Leo's killer is going, and the information guild still has nothing. The butterfly effect has gotten out of his hands, all of it caused by him saving the Five Deadly Sins. Even Loria, who should have died in the story, became Duke Altia and is expanding her power and influence through the underworld at a terrifying speed. Allon decides to stop investigating the assassin, since this is a situation where ignorance is bliss. Nothing in the setting escapes the information guild's network, and digging into what he should not know would be a meaningless precaution if it gets him killed. Secret organizations like that will not harm him as long as he does not meddle, and they have no reason to attack him unless he approaches first, so he tells Evan to call it off. There is other news too, since Deus has recently been appointed a knight of Caliburn. Three months after that, Deus has made an entire knight order, which puts him at expert level or higher despite being appointed only a short while ago, and people are saying the world will see its fifth master knight in less than ten years, one of the Swords of Caliburn. Six months later, a year has passed since the five moved out of the orphanage, and Allon has settled into the count's work. Deus has become a Sword of Caliburn, making him the fifth master knight, which Allon cannot follow, because only sword masters become master knights. The swordmaster of Psychedelia is a superhuman beyond the aura blade who has unlocked a unique ability called derivation, and Deus is only about to become one, since he has not created his derivation yet. The nation gave him the title anyway, and he won a duel against the fourth sword. Caliburn had also lost a master knight to the northern barbarians and has been at war with them for over a decade. Realizing mana and moving it around takes fifteen years, and derivation takes at least a few decades. Reinhardt, the first sword, was thirty-two when he became the youngest master knight ever, accepted as a temporary comrade in main episode three, and he had held a sword since he was five. A child with no knowledge of swords becoming a master knight has Allon wondering whether he can leech off Deus sooner than expected, then worrying that maybe he cannot, since Eutiah is the only one who ever writes to him. Even after going to the Holy Kingdom, her letters keep coming regularly with news of the deadly sins she grew up with, so they clearly keep in touch. None of them have seen his face, and they could at least thank him for the gift, which stings a little, though he goes back to basics and decides he is already more than thankful that they have not destroyed the kingdom after awakening into the five deadly sins. As long as they are doing well, he is happy. In Caliburn's capital, the central area of Kirtham, at the grand mansion where the Solar Eclipse Knights reside, Deus Makalian, captain of the Solar Eclipse Knights and the youngest master knight, is greeted by his sister. A whole year on, the memory still embarrasses him. The Black Things took everything from him, and all he had left was uncontrollable rage and hatred. The Great Moon saving his life was not reason enough to swear allegiance, but she promised he could take his revenge with his own hands, so he followed orders under the Blue Moon through dangerous missions and training, without caring about his own wellbeing, carrying out work for a few years that would become the foundation for fighting the Black Things. Then came his first personal order, and the letter made no sense to him, just a small hotel in southern Caliburn. The gift did not excite him, but he went anyway, wondering what could possibly be there. The chapter ends with Deus on the ground in tears, holding the family he thought he had lost forever, more precious to him than his own life.
