The Patron Of Villains Wiki

Episode 6 (Webtoon)

Episode 6 (제6화) is the sixth episode of The Patron of Villains Webtoon series.

Summary

The Chapter begins with Lauria Altia begging Allon to lend her his strength. She is going to be assassinated soon, she tells him. She was born to her father's mistress and has been protected as his daughter until now, but Duke Altia's condition has worsened, and her older sisters will kill her the moment he is gone. Allon sees a mutual downfall situation. He also cannot remember her from Psychedelia at all, and figures she must have died before the story even began, which would explain why she never showed up in the game. She insists that a man with his power could save her. He declines. She is not asking empty handed, she says, and offers him half the Altia family fortune. He refuses that too and takes his leave. His own reasoning is that he can barely take care of himself right now, he does not want to hand her false hope, and he is nothing like the powerful figure the rumors describe. At the door he stops to wish her luck and to hope she finds a reliable ally. Two cloaked figures have watched the whole exchange from the ballroom. One of them notes that "Altia" approached the Great Moon and suggests passing his kind wishes along to her through the Red Moon. The other refuses. Their intelligence says she is the only Altia with no tie to Avalon, which makes her the only one who is not a target of Radan's. That simplifies things for them. The rest of the Altias will be dealt with, the work proceeds on the Red Moon's command, and their priority stays where it was, blocking information so the Avalon case never reaches Allon. Back inside, a red haired noblewoman walks up to Allon, who has been wondering whether some invisible barrier is keeping people away from him. His hope of finally talking to a noble dies once he places her as another shadow player and remembers that nobody approaches him first unless they are trouble. He greets her as Lady Zenonia. She is delighted to be recognized, and he tells her she is famous in many ways. The Asteria Kingdom has three great shadow players: Altia in the north, Palateo in the east, and Zenonia the troublemaker in the west. This one is Kallia, eldest daughter of Count Zenonia. Where House Palateo runs a gang, Zenonia is closer to a smartly run criminal syndicate. Allon decides he must never get involved with her if he wants the peaceful noble life, and compliments her beauty in the same breath. Kallia asks to talk with him further. He deflects by saying too many eyes are on them, while silently begging to be let go quietly. She tells him he is just as the rumors say, then adds that she looks forward to seeing him again, and he has no idea what she meant by it. Elsewhere the watchers report that the Avalon information is well contained, but a new concern has come up, since someone is still keeping watch on Allon. They are being tailed themselves. No new orders have come, so they settle on watching for now and eliminating the tail afterward. Allon thinks he has finally found his real objective, and admits he might cry if it turns out empty again. The ball was only a pretext. He came all the way south for the labyrinth here. The Labyrinth of Whispers rewards anyone who solves the riddles in all eight of its rooms with a powerful artifact, and Allon has every route and puzzle memorized. Seeing the entrance in real life still gets to him after running the dungeon countless times in the game. Evan says the inside of the canyon feels artificial, as though someone built it on purpose, and asks how Allon knows about the place at all. Allon lets slip that he has come here often, then covers it by claiming he was joking and simply has his ways. Inside, wrong answers bring enormous stone hands slamming down without mercy, and Allon walks through the mechanisms without flinching. Four years of working together have not made him any easier for Evan to understand. Eliminating crime groups, saving orphans, repaying random debts, helping slaves, delivering meaningless messages, and now knowing everything about a place he has barely left the estate to see. Evan follows him anyway, for a simple reason: whatever Allon does somehow ends well. Once the last door opens, Allon confesses that he feels sick and nearly strained his neck trying not to look at the traps. He ignores the hoard in the treasure chamber and tells Evan to take only a black ring. Evan calls it the most useless-looking thing in the room, and Allon insists that taking anything else would only bring trouble. The ring is the Oath of Restraint, and Allon credits the game route for how easy the run was. Then Evan points out the one thing he did not anticipate on the way out. The rock piles inside the canyon are golems. A new, unknown enemy is the worst case Allon can imagine, and Evan, set on getting him out alive, says that this time he will handle it. The golem attacks. Evan tells him to find an escape route first. Allon decides that second-tier magic will not be enough and invokes the Oath of Restraint. The world stops. A voice addresses him as a fragment inheriting the great will of Niaculla and demands two restrictions it can enact. In the game this was a simple choice window. The Oath of Restraint is an absorption-type artifact that, as the name suggests, lets the user impose restrictions on themselves in exchange for power. Allon swears first that he will always perform the hand signs of Babylonia when using magic, and when the voice asks what he wants in return, he asks for the power to twist the laws of the world a little further. Granted. For the second he swears to strictly chant the words of Babylonia, and asks for greater power to defy the world's laws. The voice goes quiet long enough that he panics, wondering whether he messed something up, even though he copied the exact skill icon. Taking both the hand signs and the words is what produces the highest possible magic attack power, and enough playthroughs have left him with every combination from the original game in his head. The second restriction is granted. The voice thanks him as the human who remembers the gestures and mysteries of a forgotten god and expresses its gratitude to the one who inherits the will. Allon is still asking what inheriting the will is supposed to mean when the ring is absorbed and the restrictions take hold, and the voice tells him it will be watching him forever. Time resumes in the middle of a sentence, with a bloodied Evan still shouting that second-tier magic is not strong enough while holding the golem off with his sword. Allon looks at the sphere of lightning in his hand. It should look brilliant and instead looks pitiful, even with all his mana poured into it, and no amount of training will lift that ceiling. So he decides to test the restriction and the price he paid for it. The chapter ends with him facing the golem.
