Episode 7 (제7화) is the seventh episode of The Patron of Villains Webtoon series.
Summary
The chapter begins with Allon testing the restriction and the price he paid for it. The spell builds through four named stages, refraction, repulsion, blue light, and a line of diffraction, before the lightning tears the canyon apart and leaves the golem in pieces. Evan can only stare at the rubble, and even Allon asks what the hell just happened. Evan spent fifteen years as a mercenary and never saw anything like that, so he asks again whether it was really just second circle magic, and Allon confirms that it was. Privately he admits that he did not know either, since it never worked like that in the game. The turn based battle system of Psychedelia let magic be enhanced each turn through hand signs or incantations. What he cast was Chain Lightning enhanced with four incantations and hand signs across five turns, which is only a magic setting for a large scale lightning spell. The restraints do the rest. Every spell he casts now requires hand signs and incantations, so the enhancement stacked over and over. Second circle magic turning into overkill catches him off guard, and Evan admits the result went far past what he expected. Evan finds the aftermath more exhausting than the fight itself and wonders aloud who in the world built such an unpleasant place. That jogs Allon's memory, because the Maze of Whisper used to go by a different name. A strategy guide and a post about a mad outlaw once circulated on the community website, and players kept mentioning a Maze of Pallaon that nobody could identify. The dungeon had a reputation as a masochist raid zone, the director himself said Pallaon owned the maze, and anyone who missed the clear reward could retry it forever, so the standing advice was to stay away. The name Maze of Pallaon stuck. Allon mutters that a guy named Pallaon made the place, gets asked to repeat himself, and says instead that they should head back east, since there is something he wants to do once they return. He works through the fight on the road. A hand sign matched to a spell's attribute raises its power, and the right incantation enhances its properties, which is how the mechanics were meant to function. In the game the visuals never changed and only the number went up. Here he could watch the spell change shape with each incantation, and he suspects he notices it because he is unusually good at controlling mana, pitiful as his mana pool is. He will test it again once his mana recovers. For now he is relieved it turned out fine. Someone else was in the canyon. A woman walks along the glowing glyphs left in the rock and recognizes them as writing from the era of the forgotten outer gods, the script of the Alanef Empire, and she knows what they commemorate. They record the one who stopped the invasion of the Black Things and stood victorious over the Al Hatlaka, who ate the hearts of the citizens, the Brilliant Emperor, Pallaon the Great. She knows it because she was born with the Ancient Library after being assigned the great mission. Allon's offhand remark about a guy named Pallaon comes back to her. That he was special was never in doubt, since the Bloody Queen follows him, but a friend of Pallaon is something she can only find in history, and she did not expect that of the Great Moon. The phrase he whispered is worse, because it does not exist anywhere in the Ancient Library. The Red Moon was right, she admits, and she is embarrassed to have been following orders blindly. A companion joins her and asks whether she got the information. She did not. The Dark One is dead, his head twisted around in midair with no warning, and the two of them will have to report it for processing. In Zenonia County, Kallia decides the rumors were accurate. Chillingly emotionless, with the eyes of the abyss. What sticks with her is being called famous. Count Zenonia is strong and famous, certainly, but she takes no part in social activities. She asks her father whether that is not fascinating, then reminds him that he is the count here. Nobody is supposed to know that she has made her father a puppet so she can run the household herself, so Allon working it out unsettles her. His line about too many eyes being on them reads differently now, and she concludes that he spotted the tails she put on him as well. A servant bursts in and tells her to go see her room. Whatever is waiting there was brought in on purpose. The seal never activated, so the man did not give up the secret, which leaves her asking how they figured it out. The chapter ends with Kallia alone.
