House of Palateo is a noble family in the The Patron of Villains web novel and webtoon series. The family governs the Palateo County and is known throughout the kingdom for its wealth, influence, and notorious reputation. The house includes Allon Palateo, the protagonist of the series, as well as his older brothers Leo Palateo and Tonio Palateo. In the original storyline of Psychedelia, several members of the family are heavily involved in criminal activity.
Overview
The House of Palateo is an influential noble family that rules over Palateo County. Its members enjoy considerable wealth and authority, with the family's estate containing numerous servants, guards, and facilities befitting a powerful aristocratic household. Despite its status, the house possesses a poor reputation among other nobles. Members of the family are associated with violence, criminal organizations, drug trafficking, and other illegal activities. This reputation becomes especially apparent after Allon Palateo becomes the family's likely successor. Even though Allon personally has little involvement in his family's crimes, other nobles frequently avoid or fear him because of the Palateo name.
History
Before Allon's possession
Prior to the protagonist possessing Allon Palateo, the House of Palateo was headed by Count Palateo. His eldest son, Leo Palateo, was positioned to inherit the family, while Tonio Palateo and Allon were the second and third sons respectively. In the original storyline of Psychedelia, the family is closely connected to the criminal underworld. Tonio was destined to become known as the King of Drugs, while Leo would eventually become a major criminal figure and succeed as head of the family. The original Allon, by contrast, was regarded as an insignificant and powerless member of the household.
Allon's change
After the protagonist awakens in Allon's body, his behavior begins changing significantly. The original Allon was known for being idle and supposedly illiterate, whereas the new Allon begins reading, making plans, rescuing the future Five Prime Sins, and later training in swordsmanship and magic. These changes draw increasing attention from the people around him, including his brothers.
Death of Tonio Palateo
Tonio Palateo dies considerably earlier than he was supposed to according to Allon's memories of Psychedelia. His death becomes one of the first major signs that the original storyline is beginning to change. Following Tonio's death, Leo Palateo absorbs the drug-related criminal operations previously controlled by his younger brother.
Death of Count Palateo
Count Palateo later dies, leaving Leo as the expected successor to the family. His funeral is attended by numerous relatives and nobles, although the event makes clear that the family patriarch was not especially beloved. With the count gone, the issue of succession within the House of Palateo becomes increasingly important.
Conflict between Leo and Allon
Although Allon does not intend to compete with Leo for control of the house, Leo becomes increasingly suspicious of his younger brother. When Allon leaves the territory for Rodmil, Leo sends Alman after him with instructions that would result in Allon's death. Alman never reaches Allon because he is intercepted by a member of the Blue Moon. Allon remains unaware that his brother attempted to have him killed.
Death of Leo Palateo
Leo is later murdered while Allon is away from the territory. Allon is shocked by his death because it occurs far earlier than expected based on the original storyline of Psychedelia. With both of his older brothers and his father dead, Allon becomes the primary remaining successor to the House of Palateo. The circumstances surrounding the deaths also create suspicion around him. From an outsider's perspective, Allon repeatedly benefits whenever powerful members of his family die or disappear.
Allon as a successor
Following Leo's death, Allon is forced to assume greater responsibility for the family and its territory. His daily life becomes occupied with paperwork, training, and the responsibilities expected of a future count. He also begins attending noble gatherings to establish political relationships with other aristocratic families. The House of Palateo's reputation makes this difficult, as many nobles fear Allon despite his attempts to behave differently from his relatives.

Territory
Palateo County
The House of Palateo governs Palateo County. Following the deaths of the count and his eldest sons, Allon Palateo becomes the person expected to inherit authority over the county.
Palateo Estate
The family's primary residence is the Palateo Estate. The estate contains a large library, private training areas, numerous servants, and other facilities associated with the family's noble status. Allon spends much of his early life after possession within the estate.
Criminal connections
The House of Palateo is closely associated with criminal activity, particularly through Leo Palateo and Tonio Palateo. Tonio controls drug-related operations and is destined in the original storyline to become the King of Drugs. After Tonio's death, Leo takes control of these operations and expands his own criminal influence. The family's reputation causes other nobles to associate even Allon Palateo with criminal activity despite his lack of involvement in his brothers' operations.
Reputation
The House of Palateo is feared and disliked by many members of the nobility. When Allon attends a noble ball after becoming the expected successor, numerous attendees avoid approaching him because of his family's reputation. This causes Allon considerable difficulty, as he must establish political relationships while simultaneously dealing with the consequences of his relatives' actions. The unexplained deaths of Leo and Tonio, combined with the activities of the Blue Moon, further strengthen the belief that the Palateo family is involved in dangerous hidden affairs.
